Update on the I-405 Bridges

Early in October, Springdale Avenue bridge in Westminster closed to traffic. It is one of the 18 bridges being replaced as part of the I-405 Improvement Project, which is widening the freeway between Costa Mesa and the Los Angeles County line.

The new Springdale Avenue bridge will provide greater accessibility to all types of travelers. Construction will add bike lanes on both sides and a southbound sidewalk to match the existing one in the opposite direction.

During construction, OCTA will continue to keep the community informed with virtual neighborhood meetings, email, text and call alerts, social media, the project website and local digital ads.

The Edwards Street bridge opened in September and the Bolsa Chica Road, Edinger Avenue bridges and Heil Avenue pedestrian bridge are anticipated to open at the end of 2021.
