Upcoming Community Transit Investments Include Shuttles, Other Circulators

To help communities tailor transit to their individual needs, OCTA provides a competitive program funded through Measure M, Orange County’s half-cent sales tax for transportation improvements, for local shuttles and other vehicles that circulate throughout the community. Community-Based Transit/Circulators, which are part of Project V, help develop transit that complements regional bus and rail services and meets needs in areas not served by regional transit.

Examples include local community circulators that carry passengers among various shopping, medical, and transportation-related centers and special event and seasonal services that operate during heavy traffic periods.

In November 2015, the Board authorized a call for projects for $20 million. Local cities and the County of Orange that are eligible to receive Measure M2 funds are encouraged to submit applications for competitive grant funding consideration by Feb. 29, 2016. Final recommendations for grant awards will go to the Board by June 2016. Learn more about how to apply here.
