Transportation Agency Trio Helps Employers Take Cars Off Roads, Reduce Pollution

Three transportation agencies have joined forces to help employers reduce regional traffic and pollution. OCTA, LA Metro and the Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC) recently provided a free virtual Employee Transportation Coordinator (ETC) Workshop to more than 100 attendees to support corporate South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) requirements.

ETCs are employer representatives who work within their organizations to encourage and publicize opportunities to reduce traffic and pollution. OCTA and other transportation agencies provide them with state-of-the-art marketing techniques to help them successfully meet their goals while qualifying for SCAQMD-required certificates.

Because in-person events were prohibited during the pandemic, OCTA, LA Metro and VCTC pooled their resources to offer virtual events that allowed them to leverage resources to reach more attendees. During the half-day event in May, the three agencies presented strategies for returning to the office and promoting Bike Month and vanpool participation.
