Taxpayer Oversight Committee Welcomes New Members

Charged with monitoring the use of funds generated by OCTA’s local transportation tax OC Go, the independent Taxpayer Oversight Committee (TOC) welcomed two new members in June. A lottery conducted at the OCTA Board of Directors meeting June 22 resulted in the appointment of Harry Sloan (Supervisorial District Two) and Joseph McCarthy (Supervisorial District Three). Each will serve a three-year term beginning July 1, 2020.

Participation on the TOC requires dedication, time and commitment. The volunteers who serve on the TOC provide expertise and insight, resulting in thoughtful discussions regarding the implementation and oversight of OC Go, also known as Measure M.

Each spring, as called for in the Measure M Ordinance, a panel conducts an extensive recruitment process to fill vacancies and reviews and conducts interviews with the applicants. In 2021, the Grand Jurors Association of Orange County will be conducting recruitment for Supervisorial Districts 1,2,4, and 5.
