As our communities begin to reopen, many are returning to life outside their homes after several months. We know that some of you haven’t set foot on a bus since mid-March and understandably, there may be some unease with the idea of once again sharing a ride with others.
There is nothing more important to us than your health and well-being and the safety of our passengers and employees is our highest priority.
That’s why we made changes to the OC Bus riding experience designed to help protect you and others. We made these changes with the guidance of local, state, and federal health officials.

Service changes
OCTA continues to adjust bus service to meet demand while providing essential service to those who rely on us. Service is now operating on a Saturday schedule Monday through Saturday, Sundays are operating normal Sunday service and 14 weekday routes are operating weekday service. Face coverings required
Wearing a face covering is now required statewide. A face covering must be worn while waiting for and riding OC Bus. Face coverings can help slow the spread of COVID-19 and protect the health of fellow passengers and drivers.
Beginning Monday, July 27, reusable face coverings will be available for free to passengers at the OCTA Store, 600 S. Main Street in Orange, during the current modified business hours, weekdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Fewer passengers per bus
To provide more space for social distancing, we’re allowing fewer people on each bus. Check the front window to see if yours is full.
Hand sanitizers
Hand sanitizer is available on all fixed-route buses. Please make sure your hands are clean by washing them frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or by using hand sanitizer when soap and water aren’t available.
Rear-door boarding
Rear-door boarding protects the health of passengers and coach operators. Passengers with disabilities or those who need the ramp may board from the front.
Bus passes required
Bus fare is not free while boarding from the rear. You’ll be required to show your bus pass upon request to the coach operator or transit police. Please purchase your pass before boarding; cash will not be accepted onboard.
New bus etiquette
Leave a seat or row between you and others when possible. Sneeze or cough into your elbow or tissue. And don’t ride when you’re sick.
