Each year, except during the pandemic, OCTA invites its directors, staff and the public to join in a group ride to support National Bike Month. On May 19, at OCTA’s first Bike Rally since 2019, approximately 75 cyclists rode from the Orange Metrolink Station to OCTA headquarters in Orange.
It was the largest OCTA Bike Rally turnout ever.
Among the participants were OCTA Chairman Gene Hernandez, Vice Chairman Tam Nguyen, Director Steve Jones and CEO Darrell Johnson.
In his comments following the rally, Chairman Hernandez referenced the importance of active transportation to OCTA and Orange County. “The Bike Rally is just one example of our efforts to promote cycling, a healthy way to get around, helping those of us who ride breathe better and improving air quality for everyone. OCTA, as you know, isn’t just about buses and improving freeways. Active transportation is a priority for OCTA and we are always looking for ways to make biking easier.”
As part of that effort, OCTA conducts an annual campaign during Bike Month to encourage more people to ride and learn about cycling safety tips. Learn more here.
