Explore OCTA’s Transportation Options during Rideshare Week

Rideshare Week, Oct. 5–9, encourages Orange County commuters to try alternative transportation while helping improve air quality and reduce vehicles on the road.

As part of this year’s Taste of Rideshare Week promotion, commuters can pledge to take OC Bus, Metrolink, vanpool, bike or carpool and use their chosen option at least once during the week for a chance to win a Commuter Essentials Kit valued at more than $300, including AirPods and a Kindle. Free rides on OC Bus and Metrolink on Oct. 7 for Clean Air Day can also count toward the pledge.

Rideshare Week is just one opportunity to explore alternatives to driving alone. Throughout the year, OCTA provides programs, services and resources that make it easier to find transportation options that fit different trips and lifestyles.

Ride OC Bus: With routes serving destinations throughout Orange County, OC Bus can help commuters and other travelers leave the driving behind. Use OCTA’s trip planner.  Then use the cost calculator to compare driving alone with OC Bus and see how much you could save over time.

Take Metrolink: Metrolink provides a comfortable option for commuting and traveling throughout Orange County and beyond, giving riders time to relax, work or enjoy the trip.

Share a Vanpool: For those with longer commutes, OCTA’s Vanpool Program helps groups of four or more people traveling to a similar destination share the ride while saving on commuting costs.

Ride A Bike: Orange County offers more than 1,000 miles of bikeways, giving commuters and recreational riders another way to get around while adding physical activity to their day.

Join A Carpool: Sharing a ride with a coworker or another traveler can help reduce commuting costs and travel time.
