OCTA Honored with Five CAPIO Awards

CAPIO Awards are presented annually by the California Association of Public Information Officials to honor outstanding public agency information and communications programs. The 2017 awards were held in conjunction with the CAPIO Annual Conference in San Diego.

The OC Bus Mobile App Video won an Award of Excellence, CAPIO’s highest honor. The engaging online video generated interest and excitement about the mobile ticketing app, which has exceeded internal goals for the number of downloads and usage. The 64Xpress Bus Dedication Event won two Awards of Merit. Introduced at the Asian Garden Mall last year, the service offers a faster commute along popular Route 64, which runs between the Westminster Mall area in Huntington Beach and Larwin Square in Tustin.

The October Ridership Campaign, a targeted effort to increase ridership and educate existing and potential riders about service and frequency improvements resulting from one of the most significant service changes in OCTA history, won an Award of Distinction.

Finally, The 91 Weekend Shift Campaign earned an Award of Merit for raising awareness about extensive construction on the 91 Express Lanes.
