OCTA Executives Attend SB 1 Briefing with Caltrans Inspectors General

On Monday, July 16, Caltrans District 12 hosted a briefing with Eraina Ortega, Caltrans’ new Inspector General who was appointed by Governor Brown in January to lead the Independent Office of Audits and Investigations established by SB 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. Ms. Ortega was accompanied by Deputy Inspector General Debbi Lumpkin.

OCTA CEO Darrell Johnson attended the briefing along with Kia Mortazavi, Executive Director of Planning, Jim Beil, Executive Director of Capital Programs, and Janet Sutter, Executive Director of Internal Affairs. OCTA’s executive team presented an overview of OCTA’s roles and responsibilities, the impacts of SB 1 on Orange County, the status of freeway projects, the Next 10 delivery plan, and Measure M (also known as OC Go), including revenue projections and addressing environmental impacts in a comprehensive manner.

Following the briefing, OCTA and Caltrans staff took the Inspector General and Deputy Inspector General on a tour of the I-405 Improvement Project, SR-55 Improvement Project and the I-5 Central Improvement Project.
