Major Transportation Milestones Achieved Despite Pandemic Challenges

OCTA has continued to deliver a balanced and sustainable transportation network for Orange County by completing 41 of 92 milestones through the first six months of the year despite the challenges presented by the (COVID-19) pandemic.

The milestones achieved include advancing projects promised to voters through OC Go, also known as Measure M, Orange County’s half-cent sales tax for transportation improvements. They include improving the I-405, I-5 and SR-91 freeways, building the OC Streetcar, funding street improvements and enhancing the OC Bus system.

“While there’s no question that we, like public agencies everywhere, have faced enormous challenges with the ongoing public health crisis, I think this report is further proof of the tremendous effort of our agency to work through those obstacles and continue providing essential services for Orange County,” said OCTA Chairman Steve Jones, also the Mayor of Garden Grove.

Each January, the OCTA board and CEO work together to prioritize a series of initiatives for the year and develop an action plan to ensure progress toward those initiatives. Adjustments in May because of COVID-19 resulted in 92 milestones.
