Traditionally on Veterans Day, OCTA hosts an appreciation event to honor staff and their families who have served. OCTA board members and executives hand out commemorative coins and members of a local ROTC present colors.
This year, in an effort to help reduce the spread of COVID-19, OCTA’s celebration was different – but no less heartfelt. To recognize its veterans, OCTA created a slideshow and a poster and sent each veteran a pin and challenge coin to thank them for their service.
OCTA employs approximately 70 veterans of the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard and has been recognized by military organizations as a military-friendly employer for its efforts to actively recruit veterans.
The veterans are employed in a range of positions, including OCTA coach operators, maintenance workers, and administrative employees.
