Experience OC’s Wilderness on Horseback

OCTA’s first open-space preserve excursion of the year is an equestrian ride through beautiful Trabuco Canyon on February 5. Bring your horse and enjoy the view. Held throughout the year, these free events offer special access on foot and horseback to some of Orange County’s permanently protected open spaces.

Seven properties have been acquired as part of the Measure M Freeway Environmental Mitigation Program, a comprehensive plan that preserves and restores natural habitats and allows for expedited delivery of freeway projects. The properties are located in Trabuco Canyon, Brea, Silverado Canyon, and Laguna Beach. Together, they total more than 1,300 acres.

For riders on February 5, the destination is the Ferber Ranch Preserve, a 399-acre parcel located northwest of the City of Rancho Santa Margarita in Trabuco Canyon. It’s bordered by the Cleveland National Forest to the north and Trabuco Creek to the south.  The Preserve features rolling terrain with elevations ranging from 1,120 to 1,650 feet above sea level.

A hike through the Aliso Canyon Preserve in Laguna Beach will be held on February 25. To learn more about these events and others planned for 2017, click here.
Reservations are required for all events and participants must be 12 years and over.
