Cruising along the coast at up to 90 miles an hour, the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner delivers amazing views of the California coastline plus the carefree (and car-free) satisfaction of leaving the driving to someone else. From San Diego to San Luis Obispo, it puts great destinations within reach on comfortable WIFI-equipped train cars with plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy leisurely trips with family and friends.
A new website gives a tantalizing glimpse of amazing places near Pacific Surfliner stations in San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties.
Through March 6, special getaway packages will be offered to those who enter to win online.
With 23 daily trains, the Pacific Surfliner has a ridership of more than 2.8 million passengers and is the second busiest Amtrak route in the country. Last July, the Los Angeles – San Diego – San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) Rail Corridor Agency assumed local management of the Pacific Surfliner service. OCTA, a member of the LOSSAN joint powers authority, serves as the LOSSAN managing agency, providing day-to-day administrative support to the core LOSSAN Agency staff housed at OCTA.
