There’s something special about summer train travel. The days are longer and there’s a little more time, a little less pressure. It’s a great time to explore all the amazing destinations near Metrolink stations, like Hollywood, San Juan Capistrano, and the beautiful Orange County beaches.
Visitors are discovering all these nearby gems at Once Upon a Train, a special OCTA website with a fun video and everything needed to start adventuring, including Metrolink information, enticing place descriptions, and more. With the many discounts available, these trips often pay for themselves when purchased with a $10 Weekend Day Pass, which offers unlimited Metrolink travel all day either Saturday or Sunday.
Each week through August 31, we’re encouraging Metrolink Weekend adventurers with a prize for those who share their stories with us and their friends. Donated by our business partners located near Metrolink stations, the prizes are valuable and substantial. One lucky winner will receive two Disneyland® Resort Park Hopper® tickets and a two-night hotel stay.
Here are some of their stories:
"My husband and I had a great day taking the Metrolink from Laguna Niguel to Downtown LA, Union Station. We walked all over China Town and Olvera Street, and had beef dip sandwiches for lunch at Philippes. It was a fantastic day. I can't wait to do it again!!"
"My daughter's first real train ride left her enchanted! She was amazed at how quickly the train zipped from Santa Ana to San Juan Capistrano for our ‘adventure in another city’. The day was filled with shopping, great food, the park, and the butterfly sanctuary. We can't wait to do this trip and others in the future."
"I am a disabled cancer survivor and rely on public transportation. I moved to Corona over a year and a half ago from Northern CA. I immediately fell in love with Metrolink $10 Weekends. This enables me as a woman on a very restricted income to enjoy one weekend a month at the ocean. I switch between San Clemente Pier and Oceanside. I have many other planned weekend adventures on the Metrolink including Olvera Street and San Juan Capistrano. I feel so blessed to live in Corona close to the Metrolink Station." |
