In celebration of National Walk to School Day, OCTA recently conducted two events in Orange County that encouraged students to start their day off active and get to school by foot. Both Clinton Elementary School in Garden Grove and Orangethorpe Elementary School in Fullerton sponsored special events highlighting the fun and benefits of walking to school.
To show them how it’s done, OCTA Chair Tim Shaw stopped by Orangethorpe Elementary and strolled with the students to support their efforts. As students arrived on campus, they were greeted with posters and local school champions who high-fived them and applauded their efforts to reduce their carbon footprint. Local police joined the students in the walk events and deputized students for the day in the name of safety.
