Two Great Bike Adventures that Begin on the Train

OCTA’s Metrolink Daycations website includes many suggestions for weekend train travel, including itineraries for cyclists who would like to bring bikes onboard. Metrolink has special cars just for cyclists and three bikes are allowed on each regular car.

These bike trips start at Metrolink stations.

Dana Point Harbor

The adventure begins in San Juan Capistrano. It’s an easy six miles along the San Juan Creek Trail to Doheny State Beach, then head north for a mile. Pick up the trail near the station. Ride details.

Fullerton Loop Trail

The adventure begins at the Fullerton Transportation Center. The Fullerton Loop Trail is an 11-mile trail composed of a patchwork of old equestrian paths that run along property lines and an old railroad bed corridor. The closest trail head is one mile from the Fullerton Transportation Center. Ride details.

These and other weekend trips on Metrolink are only $10 for unlimited rides Saturday or Sunday. Kids 17 and under ride free. Enter for a chance to win roundtrip Metrolink tickets and a $100 gift card. In addition, those who pledge to ride as part of OCTA’s Bike Month celebration are also eligible for a chance to win prizes.

Please note that weekend Metrolink trains will operate as scheduled only between the San Juan Capistrano Station and Los Angeles Union Station due to hillside movement in San Clemente.
