Travel Free on Metrolink to the Solar Decathlon

At the Solar Decathlon in Irvine, students from Orange County colleges will be among the international competitors designing and building beautiful solar-powered homes that may represent the way we live in the near future. To gather ideas and learn how energy-saving features can help save money, visit the Solar Decathlon in Orange County Great Park in Irvine Oct. 8-11 & 15-18, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

There are many ways to go green to this free event sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy. Both Metrolink and the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner provide service to the Irvine Station. From there, show your train ticket and ride free to the Great Park on the shuttle provided by the City of Irvine.

For a chance to win free Metrolink tickets, celebrate the Solar Decathlon with us on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 10:30 a.m. at the Orange Station with music, free refreshments sponsored by Ruby’s Diner and free Metrolink tickets for the first 100 people (first come, first served). The train to Irvine departs at 11:30 a.m.

Even if you don’t score a free ticket, you can get to the Solar Decathlon and anywhere else Metrolink travels with a $10 Metrolink Weekend Day Pass.
