Travel by Train for a Romantic Valentine’s Day

There’s something special about a train ride that lends itself to special occasions. Enjoy the company of your companions while watching the world go by with no worries about traffic, parking or the price of gas.

In honor of Valentine’s Day, here are some of our favorite romantic places easily reached by Metrolink. Travel all day either Saturday or Sunday for only $10, and kids ride free.

With sweeping views of the blue Pacific, Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens was built in 1927 by the founder of San Clemente, Ole Hanson, as his representation of the California dream. Stroll the Spanish Colonial Revival home and picnic (bring your own lunch) in the 2.5 acres of fabulous gardens.

Just a few steps from the San Juan Capistrano Metrolink station, the Los Rios Historical District is California’s oldest continually operating neighborhood. Lined with quaint shops, restaurants and tree-lined paths, it’s a lovely area to simply wander and relax. Before you head home, visit nearby Five Vines Wine Bar for wine, beer, small bites and dessert.

A classic beach town, Oceanside has something for everyone from whale watching to craft brews to beautiful sunsets. Bring your bike or board on the train – Oceanside is walkable, bikeable, surfable and all-around friendly.

Visit Metrolink Daycations to find discounts and plan your trip to these and other locations near Metrolink stations Our carefully curated itineraries, maps and other features will make your Valentine’s celebration – or any other day away – a truly special event.
