The Public Is Invited to Learn about the I-5 Irvine Tustin Project

The Interstate 5 (I-5) Irvine Tustin Project is an environmental study to evaluate ways to improve the I-5 Freeway between Interstate 405 (I-405) and State Route 55 (SR-55) in Irvine and Tustin.

About 350,000 motorists drive this nine-mile stretch every day. By 2040, daily traffic volumes are projected to increase to nearly half a million. Planning for this growth is important to Orange County’s mobility, economy and quality of life.

Funded by Measure M, Orange County’s half-cent sales tax for transportation improvements, the study is designed to measure the estimated performance, feasibility and potential environmental effects of improvements including the addition of a new northbound and southbound  general purpose lane to I-5 in the project study area.

OCTA and Caltrans will hold two meetings this month to let people know about the proposed project and generate public participation and comment.
