The OC Fair Express Returns

OCTA hosted a kick-off event last Friday at the Goldenwest Transportation Center to welcome the return of the OC Fair Express bus service.

The event featured a specially wrapped bus, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and an opportunity for guests to spin a wheel to win prizes. After the event, OCTA Board Director Gale Eastman joined a bus full of excited fairgoers on the OC Fair Express for the first trip of the summer.

More than 6,300 boardings were recorded for the first weekend of service, a 15% increase compared to last year.

The OC Fair Express provides non-stop bus service to the OC Fair from nine locations in Orange County Friday through Sunday, including: Anaheim Canyon Metrolink Station, Fullerton Park and Ride, Goldenwest Transportation Center, Irvine Metrolink Station, Junipero Serra Park and Ride, Laguna Hills Transportation Center, Newport Transportation Center, the Depot at Santa Ana, and the Village at Orange.

Bus rides on the OC Fair Express are only $2 each way and customers get a coupon good for a $3 admission into the fair.  The coupon provides a savings of $8 off a regular, full price admission ticket.

The special service is made possible in part by a $342,000 grant provided by the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee (MSRC). MSRC provides subsidies for cleaner transportation alternatives.
