Later this month, Talbert Avenue Bridge in Fountain Valley is expected to open to traffic. It is one of the 18 bridges being replaced as part of the I-405 Improvement Project, which is widening the freeway between Costa Mesa and the Los Angeles County line.
The new Talbert bridge will provide greater accessibility to all types of travelers. Traffic lanes have been expanded from four to six and the bridge includes sidewalks and bike lanes on both sides.
During construction, OCTA kept the community informed with virtual neighborhood meetings, email, text and call alerts, social media, the project website, and local digital ads. One-on-one meetings were conducted with key stakeholders in the area, including Orange Coast Medical Center.
Bridge construction later this year will include Ward and Warner, and Magnolia is anticipated to open in May.
