Successful OCTA Career Expo Attracts 150 High School Students

They came looking for careers that move them.

Earlier this month, nearly 150 students and counselors from five local high schools gathered at OCTA headquarters in Orange to learn about careers in transportation. The 8th Annual OCTA Careers in Transportation Expo was conducted in person for the first time since 2020.

OCTA Executive Director of People and Community Engagement, Maggie McJilton, welcomed the students and provided an overview of the many rewarding career opportunities in bus and rail operations, public outreach, finance, planning, engineering, maintenance, marketing, communications and human resources.

Sixty employees representing 15 OCTA departments were on hand to discuss

skill development and career preparation and provide engaging activities, including a scavenger hunt. In addition, human resources offered a workshop with tips on how to build a strong resume and stand out in job interviews.
