OCTA’s free-weekend getaway promotion concluded on August 30 with a trip to San Clemente, the fourth premier destination in an attractive lineup that also featured Anaheim, Pasadena and San Juan Capistrano. Every two weeks from July 7 through August 30, OCTA gave away traffic-free weekend vacations to locations in Orange and Los Angeles counties.
Each getaway included Metrolink tickets, overnight accommodations and gift certificates to popular restaurants and attractions contributed by generous partners.
Congratulations to the winners:
- Nina S. from Irvine (San Juan Capistrano package)
- Rita A. from Westminster (Anaheim package)
- Heather M. from Tustin (Pasadena package)
- Jamie B. from Irvine (San Clemente package)
The promotion accomplished its goal of introducing new riders to Metrolink. Nearly 56 percent of the 4,150 participants were first-time Metrolink riders. The majority (75 percent) learned about the getaway program via email or social media. The getaway to Anaheim—home of Disneyland and other family favorites—attracted the most entrants with nearly 2,000 responses.
OCTA made it easy for people to enter while expanding their horizons about traveling by Metrolink. After watching a short video, participants filled out a short entry form. And while not everyone could win a free weekend getaway, for only $10 they could still enjoy the four destinations on their own with a Metrolink Weekend Day Pass.
