Those who are restless from staying at home now have an opportunity to stretch their legs. Select county parks and beaches opened May 16 following federal, state, and local guidelines to minimize the impacts of COVID-19 on park patrons, staff, and the Orange County community.
Parking lots and restrooms have reopened at all county regional and wilderness parks, including Carbon Canyon, Clark, Craig, Irvine, Laguna Niguel, Mason, Mile Square, O’Neill, Peters Canyon, Santiago Oaks, Tri-City, Wieder and Yorba regional parks, as well as Aliso and Wood Canyons, Caspers, Laguna Coast, Riley, Whiting Ranch wilderness parks and Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve.
At county-operated beaches, parking lots are closed but the beaches are open for active recreation such as walking, running, swimming, surfing, paddling, boating, and kayaking. However, group activities such as volleyball are prohibited, along with sunbathing and picnicking.
Enjoy being out but remember to maintain social distancing and wear a face covering.
