Service Animal Training Day Supports ADA, Breaks Attendance Records

OCTA offers one of the only programs in the country that pairs service animals and their trainers with experience riding public transportation. Twice a year, groups gather at the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) for a chance to ride the bus for free while taking in the sights and sounds of Downtown Disney District and Anaheim Garden Walk.

On April 9, OCTA’s Service Animal Training Day attracted more than 250 participants including 40 puppies in training from Guide Dogs of the Blind, Veterans and First Responders Service Dog Training, The Go Team and many others.

OCTA’s Service Animal Training event began in the mid-90s. During the past 20 years, OCTA has assisted with the training of thousands of service animals while helping those in the community gain increased access to public transportation as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The next training day will be offered in October.
