Crews are scheduled to demolish the I-5/Main Street carpool bridge in Santa Ana on the nights of August 2 and 3 as part of the I-5 Central County Improvements Project.
The two-year, $41.6 million project adds a second carpool lane in each direction of I-5 between SR-55 to SR-57. The new carpool lanes will help alleviate traffic congestion and bottlenecks.
The demolition requires a full closure of northbound I-5 between SR-55 and SR-22; partial closure of southbound I-5 between Gene Autry Way and Main Street; a full closure of Main Street between Santa Clara Avenue and MainPlace Drive; and closures of several on- and off-ramps. Detour signs will be in place to guide motorists around the closures.
A detailed list of closures and detours is available on the project’s closures and detours map.
