During Rideshare Week from Oct. 6 to 10, thousands of Orange County commuters chose alternate forms of transportation, pledging to share the ride for a total of 382,000 miles. Their efforts helped decrease traffic congestion and reduce pollution.
Rideshare Week is an annual promotion designed to encourage commuters to take the bus or train, vanpool, carpool, bike or walk instead of driving alone. The campaign is tied to OCTA's ongoing efforts to help residents find efficient, environmentally friendly and cost effective ways to travel in and beyond Orange County.
OCTA makes it easy for rideshare heroes to pledge their support online and encourages participation with a variety of incentives. This year, they had three chances to win, including a potential bonus for referring others. Learn more about OCTA's ongoing rideshare program here.
