Recognizing Orange County Employers for Their Rideshare Efforts

As part of its efforts to take cars off the road and encourage alternate forms of transportation, OCTA provides and coordinates vanpool and rideshare services. OCTA’s Employer Recognition Awards recently recognized a group of Orange County employers for their dedication to promoting ridesharing and alternate forms of commuting during Rideshare Week in October. About 40 people gathered at OCTA headquarters for the event.

Among the employers with the highest employee participation during Rideshare Week were the Automobile Club of Southern California, Taco Bell, MicroVention-Terumo, Pacific Life, the City of Anaheim, and OCTA.

OCTA also recognized those companies with a decade or more with the vanpool program, including Southern California Edison, Griswold Industries, Irvine Ranch Water District, Knobbe Martens, Medtronic and MicroVention-Terumo.

The OC Vanpool Program allows long-distance commuters to decrease costs and stress associated with their commute. Employer benefits include reducing parking congestion, furthering sustainability initiatives and helping with employee retention. In addition, in exchange for a monthly report, OCTA provides a $400 subsidy per van per month to offset costs.

Orange County currently has 486 vanpools. Find out more about the program and how to participate.
