Public Hearing on Proposed OCTA Budget Scheduled for June 9

The Orange County Transportation Authority’s proposed Fiscal Year 2014-15 Budget presents a balanced plan of sources and uses of funds while providing for the current and future transportation requirements of Orange County. The proposed budget is $1.1 billion with the largest portion, nearly 40 percent, allocated for transit service.

Major initiatives for the budget include sustaining bus and rail service levels, closing out Measure M1, continuing to deliver Measure M2 improvements, and operating the 91 Express Lanes. Measure M1 and M2 refer to Measure M, the county’s half-cent sales tax for transportation, which OCTA administers.

A public hearing on the proposed budget is scheduled for June 9 during a regularly scheduled OCTA Board meeting beginning at 9 a.m. Included as part of the special calendar, the hearing will take place early in the agenda. The Board will be asked to consider the budget following the public hearing.
