Project Teams Share Proposed I-405 Improvements and Progress of West County Connectors with Seal Beach Residents

More than 80 residents of the College Park West community in Seal Beach gathered in Edison Park the morning of Saturday, July 27 for a neighborhood meeting about a new supplemental traffic study for planned improvements to the San Diego Freeway (I-405).

OCTA’s project team joined Seal Beach city officials to share important details about proposed improvements to the intersection of College Park Drive and the Studebaker Road on- and off-ramps.

Planners had outlined these improvements in a new traffic study for the I-405 currently circulating for public review and comment through Aug. 12.

The document is officially called the I-405 Improvement Project Supplemental Environmental Impact Report / Environmental Impact Statement (EIR / EIS).

Seal Beach Mayor and OCTA Director Gary Miller and Councilman David Sloan joined several city staff members at the meeting, where OCTA staff shared new information included in the document and answered questions about the process for review.

Project representatives also encouraged College Park West residents to share their comments on the Supplemental Draft EIR / EIS document by mail or email.

Residents at the meeting appeared happy at OCTA’s efforts to provide information. OCTA and Caltrans will continue to work together with the College Park West community as the improvement project progresses.

OCTA team members also provided information about upcoming activities for the West County Connectors project, including planned bridge demolition Aug. 17 and Aug. 18 that will require a 20-hour full closure of the I-405 freeway.

For more information about the closure, including a map and list of recommended detours, please visit the project website.
