To assist local businesses during reconstruction of the Interstate 5 (I-5) / Avenida Pico Interchange in San Clemente, OCTA has launched a business partner discount program. The interchange improvements are part of a $230 million project that adds a carpool lane in each direction from San Juan Creek Road in San Juan Capistrano to Avenida Pico in San Clemente.
OCTA is promoting participating businesses along Avenida Pico on its website, through social media and in email blasts to community members. Businesses interested in participating can complete an application here.
The program is similar to OCTA’s successful ongoing partnership with various businesses in San Juan Capistrano and Fullerton under the Metrolink Discount Partner Program. During the past few years, OCTA has helped dozens of businesses near Metrolink stations attract customers by highlighting these destinations through online sites and promotions that attract thousands of viewers.
With the Purchase on Pico Program, during Purchase on Pico Wednesdays, shoppers can look for 5-by-5-inch window decals at participating businesses. Individual businesses determine the discount provided to shoppers. Among the businesses that have signed up to date are Slam Sporting Goods, Syrens Hair Parlor, Juice It Up! and Curves.
Construction began in February 2013 and is anticipated to last through fall 2015. For more information on the I-5 South County Improvements Project and to sign up for construction alerts, visit click here.
