OCTA’s Teen Council offers high school students hands-on opportunities to explore the transportation industry, engage in planning efforts, and share valuable youth perspectives on programs and projects.
Applications are due May 31 for the 2026–27 school year. The program includes six meetings beginning in August.
Members develop teamwork, leadership, and professional skills through interactive workshops led by OCTA staff, along with unique networking opportunities. In past years, students have collaborated with peers to share insights on emerging trends and help shape OCTA initiatives, including contributing ideas that supported community-facing programs such as the Youth Ride Free pass.

In addition to strengthening communication and collaboration skills, participation on the council can count toward community service hours and enhance college applications.
To apply, students must be between the ages of 13 and 18 as of September 1, 2026, reside in Orange County, and be entering grades 9 through 12 at a public, private, or homeschool within the county. Applicants must also submit responses to brief essay questions and a letter of recommendation.
