OCTA Supports Future Transportation Leaders at Girls Engineering Day

In March, OCTA participated in WTS Orange County’s 10th Annual Girls Engineering Day, an event designed to introduce middle and high school girls to the wide range of career opportunities in transportation and engineering.

The event featured keynote remarks from Jennifer Bergener, OCTA Deputy CEO, and Lan Zhou, Caltrans District 12 Director and OCTA Board Member, who spoke about their personal journeys and the growing need for diverse leadership in transportation. Also in attendance were Carlos Leon, Anaheim City Council Member and OCTA Board Member, and Jeannie Lee, OCTA Senior Project Manager for Highway Programs and Immediate Past President of WTS-OC.

Girls Engineering Day plays a vital role in encouraging young women to explore STEM fields and consider future careers in transportation—fields critical to the long-term success and innovation of our region’s infrastructure.

OCTA remains committed to supporting workforce development and advancing transportation by engaging the next generation of planners, engineers, and leaders.
