OCTA Supports Bicycling and Walking through Active Transportation Funding

OCTA and Orange County cities recently secured $21 million of new funding for active transportation.

The majority of the funds come from the Active Transportation Program (ATP), a statewide program created to encourage active transportation activities such as biking or walking. The California Transportation Commission (CTC) provided funding for nine Orange County projects, and the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) Regional Council approved 17 Orange County projects. Funding for the OCTA Bicycle Corridor Improvement Program (BCIP) is included in the $21 million new funding total.

The cities and the County of Orange will deliver these projects to their communities. OCTA helps local agencies by providing support for documentation and application.
