OCTA Stands Up for Transportation

As part of Stand Up for Transportation Day on April 9, OCTA CEO Darrell Johnson joined members of Congress, local elected officials and regional transportation agencies in a joint press conference in Long Beach to bring attention to transportation and infrastructure needs throughout the country.

Organized by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), the national event united more than 300 participating organizations in more than 140 communities across the country to focus on the urgency of the passage of a long-term, federal transportation bill.

The current federal transportation funding bill, Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21), is set to expire on May 31, 2015. Without a long-term federal transportation funding bill, Orange County and communities across the country will face uncertainty.

Also present at Stand Up for Transportation Day were Congressman Alan Lowenthal, Congresswoman Janice Hahn, and Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell.
