OCTA Shares Environmental Stewardship Progress with the Public

OCTA will host its final excursions of the season through the Ferber Ranch Wilderness Preserve in Trabuco Canyon with a guided hike on Aug. 9 and an equestrian riding tour on Aug. 16.

Over the past few months, outings such as these have offered Orange County residents the opportunity to experience the beauty of this protected area while learning about OCTA’s ongoing effort to preserve it for generations to come.

OCTA acquired the 400-acre property and is restoring the natural habitat in exchange for environmental approvals on 13 freeway projects funded by Measure M, the half-cent sales tax for transportation. OCTA’s acquisition of this core segment of the Trabuco Canyon area allows it to be permanently protected and ensures the preservation of high-quality habitat and mobility for wildlife into the Cleveland National Forest.

The registration deadline for Saturday’s hike is Wednesday, Aug. 6. Space is limited. For more information about the hike and the equestrian event and to register, visit octa.net/tours.
