After years of careful planning and design, construction on the first of three segments for the
I-5 South County Improvements Project is under way. Improvements will include the addition of a carpool lane in both directions of the I-5 freeway between San Juan Creek Road and Avenida Pico as well as the reconstruction the Avenida Pico interchange. Cities affected by the project include San Juan Capistrano, Dana Point, and San Clemente.
Members of the OCTA capital projects outreach team met with more than 25 Dana Point residents last week for a curbside community meeting to discuss construction of a sound wall along the northbound I-5 off-ramp to PCH/Beach Cities/Camino Las Ramblas. Though the wall was originally scheduled for construction in April, it is now re-scheduled to start construction in August.
