OCTA’s headquarters in Orange might seem like an unlikely place for trick-or-treaters, but for a gaggle of excited small children it became multiple floors of pure excitement and fun on Halloween.
More than 100 costumed children from the United Way agency Orange Children and Parents Together and from the Providence Speech and Hearing Center bounced and wiggled their way through the building visiting each of the themed floors. Each time the elevator doors opened, they came upon a different surprise – on one floor a campground, on another a pumpkin patch.
It was all part of OCTA’s annual tradition of giving back to the community as the holiday season approaches. For the past several years, OCTA has partnered with United Way to provide a safe, fun Halloween experience for children and collect donations for the Orange County United Way. In addition, officials and staff collect canned goods and transform them into Halloween sculptures before donating them to the Orange County Food Bank.
The annual event to kick off the fundraising campaign also includes contests for the best decorated conference room, costumes, pumpkin baking and pumpkin carving.
