OCTA Builds Awareness about New Bicycle Safety Law

Beginning September 16, 2014, drivers must give people riding bikes at least 3 feet of clearance when passing in the same direction.

The new law, AB-1371, is designed to reduce car-bicycle crashes by reminding drivers to give bicyclists more safe space when passing.

To let Orange County residents know about this new law, OCTA has created a comprehensive awareness campaign that includes a video, ads, radio public service announcement, fact sheets in five languages, and other materials. Many of the items are available on OCTA’s Three Feet for Safety Act web page so they can be easily downloaded and distributed.
