A new report from Apartment Life showcases super commuters, those who travel 90 minutes or more in each direction to their workplaces. Based on census data, the report indicates that super commuting is on the rise. Between 2009 and 2017, the number of super commuters in Orange County rose 29 percent. The OC Register pegs the current number at just under 40,000.
Ninety minutes each way is a long time to spend on the road.
Vanpooling doesn’t eliminate freeway frustration, but it can make it more bearable. And whether you’re a commuter or an employer, OCTA can help you get rolling.
Stop by the updated OC Vanpool website and check it out. The site has been redesigned to make it easier for commuters and employers to find the information that’s most important to them.
Did you know that commuters save $200 or more monthly by vanpooling and reduce stress levels and commute time? OCTA helps pay the monthly cost by covering roughly 30 to 40 percent of fees. For employers, OCTA provides complimentary, no-risk vanpool program implementation and management.
Today’s vanpool vehicles have received an update, too. There are different options, including SUVs and larger-capacity vans with excellent drivability. Learn about OCTA’s vanpool program here.
