This March, two of southern California’s most popular events will come to Orange County. In Dana Point, the Festival of Whales will celebrate the annual migration of the California Gray Whales. And San Juan Capistrano will welcome back its world-famous swallows with a parade and other festivities.
Both events attract many visitors, and traffic and parking can be difficult. Fortunately, Metrolink provides convenient service that eliminates these hassles and also offers families a chance to start their adventure as soon as they board the train.
The Festival of Whales runs for two consecutive weekends (March 7-8 and 14-15). On March 7 at the Orange Metrolink Station, OCTA will host a kickoff event and provide free Metrolink tickets to the first 50 people. After enjoying food, music, and games, riders can board the train for San Juan Capistrano and then take an easy bus ride to Dana Point. Bus transfers are fee with a Metrolink ticket.

During the Festival of Whales, many discounts are available to those who show a Metrolink ticket, OCTA bus pass, or 91 Express Lanes transponder.
Then on March 21, OCTA will hold an event at the Tustin Metrolink Station for travelers on their way to the 57th annual Swallows Day Parade and Mercado in San Juan Capistrano. The first 50 people will receive free Metrolink tickets, and everyone can enjoy free food, music, and fun.
The Metrolink Weekend Day Pass makes it affordable to enjoy both events. Only $10, it offers unlimited travel either Saturday or Sunday throughout the entire Metrolink system.
