Metrolink Recognized for Sustainability

The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) recently recognized Metrolink with the Gold certification for its sustainability commitment and efforts.

Metrolink’s most notable achievements include reducing greenhouse gas emissions and becoming the nation’s first passenger rail agency to completely power its entire fleet of locomotives with 100 percent fossil-free renewable fuel.

In Orange County, three rail lines and 12 stations offer a convenient way for commuters and weekend travelers to enjoy stress-free journeys while helping the environment by taking cars off the road. Since late September, Metrolink service has been temporarily suspended in Orange County between Laguna Niguel and Oceanside for track stabilization. Starting Saturday, Oct. 29, however, Metrolink weekend trains along the Orange County and Inland Empire-Orange County lines will resume service to and from the San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente, and San Clemente Pier stations. Weekday service is still suspended.
