Make Metrolink Your Easy Car-Free Beach Train

With convenient service to San Clemente and Oceanside, Metrolink is a great option when considering a trip to the beach. Stations at both locations are within walking distance of the sand and surf. Relax the moment you climb aboard the train with no concerns about driving, parking, or sand in your car, and spend your time enjoying your kids rather than stressing over traffic.

Pick up a Metrolink Weekend Day Pass for only $10 and ride any time, anywhere system-wide Saturday or Sunday with free connectivity to most rail and bus systems throughout Southern California. Other Metrolink discounts include 25 percent off for students (show your ID) and youth ages 6 to 18. Three kids 5 and under ride free with an adult using a valid ticket  each additional child pays the youth fare.

For a successful day at the beach on the train, check out these tips from Metrolink:

  • Bags, beach toys, coolers, towels and other items must be stored under seats or in a designated storage area.
  • Strollers must be folded and secured in a designated storage area.
  • Small boogie boards must be stored under the seat or in a designated storage area.
  • Bikes are allowed on ALL Metrolink train cars. Bike Cars, identified by a “Bike Car” decal on the side of the train can hold up to 9 bikes on the lower level.
  • Please do not block the aisles or emergency windows with carry-on items.
  • Please do not occupy empty seats with carry-on items.
  • Beach carts or wagons are not allowed on trains.
  • Shoes and shirts are required on all trains.
  • Use handrails when disembarking the train to avoid falling and tripping.
