Help Shape the Future of OC Bus

OCTA is developing a Zero-Emission Bus Transition Plan to guide the transition of its bus fleet to 100% zero-emission vehicles by 2040 while maintaining safe and reliable service.

With public input during the 14-month planning process, OCTA will evaluate current and future service needs, battery-electric and hydrogen fuel-cell technologies, charging and fueling requirements, infrastructure investments and potential funding opportunities. Public input will also help inform the plan.

OCTA is already testing both plug-in battery-electric and hydrogen fuel-cell electric buses to better understand how each performs in real-world operating conditions. The findings will help determine which technology – or mix of technologies – can best support reliable service and cleaner air in Orange County.

The updated plan will meet state requirements while providing a roadmap for a reliable, sustainable OC Bus system for the future.

As part of the planning process, OCTA is offering a short community survey to better understand public awareness, priorities and perspectives on zero-emission buses in Orange County.

The survey is available through Nov. 8, 2026. Participants who complete the survey will have a chance to win one of four $50 gift cards.

Take the survey.
