Those interested in creating a more bike-friendly community in south Orange County are invited to a Bikeways Roundtable on May 28. Public input is needed to continue planning the network of bikeways throughout Supervisorial District 5, which includes Aliso Viejo, Dana Point, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Woods, Lake Forest, Mission Viejo, Ranch Santa Margarita, San Clemente, and San Juan Capistrano.
The discussion is being held by the OCTA Bikeways Collaborative of Supervisorial District 5. Members include OCTA, Orange County Council of Governments, Caltrans, County of Orange, the Transportation Corridor Agencies, and participating agencies from involved municipalities.
There are currently about 1,000 miles of bikeways in Orange County with roughly another 700 miles planned. The bikeways strategy has been completed for Districts 1, 2, and 4, with 5 scheduled for completion this year. To view a map of the districts and potential regional bikeways corridors, click here.
The goal is to seamlessly connect bikeways throughout Orange County.
