OCTA recently marked a milestone with the opening of the Heil Avenue pedestrian bridge, the 11th bridge to open as part of the I-405 Improvement Project. In cooperation with Caltrans, OCTA is improving 16 miles of I-405 between SR-73 and I-605. The project will enhance mobility for different types of travel and includes 11 new bike lanes and sidewalks on bridges. The project will also construct the 405 Express Lanes from SR-73 to I-605.
Completion of the Heil Avenue bridge restores a connection across the freeway that is vital to local schools, pedestrians and bicyclists in Huntington Beach and Westminster.
