Enjoy a Safe Bike Ride

With less traffic on the roads and more unscheduled time at their disposal, people are grabbing their bikes and heading out the door. It’s a great way to get some exercise and be part of the world while remaining socially distant.

Check out these resources before you start rolling. Even experienced riders can benefit from safety reminders.

For example, did you know that riding against traffic is not only against the law –it’s dangerous and is more likely to result in injury? Find out why and watch an entertaining
video about the perils of riding upstream.

Another reminder: Car drivers must give people riding bikes at least 3 feet of clearance when passing in the same direction. The law is designed to reduce crashes by reminding drivers to give bicyclists more safe space when passing. Watch our video here.

Also, please note that the Santa Ana River Trail will be closed to cyclists and pedestrians from July 6 to July 13 so crews working on the I-405 Improvement Project can continue construction of the widened freeway over the river.
