It’s official: Dump the Pump Week is here! From June 16 to 20, OCTA is asking OC residents to say no to driving alone and yes to public transportation.
In exchange for pledging online to ride the bus or train, carpool, vanpool or bike during this special week, participants are entered to win great prizes. Those who get on track with Metrolink could win a round-trip ticket and an iPad. Prizes for jumping on a bike include a helmet and an iPad. By changing to the fast lane, carpool and vanpool riders can win a $50 gift card and an iPad. Bus riders are also eligible to win an iPad, along with a day-long bus ticket.
Dump the Pump represents an opportunity to save money on gas while increasing awareness of the benefits of public transportation. In 2011, U.S. public transportation use saved 865 million hours in travel time and 450 million gallons of fuel in 498 urban areas, according to the American Public Transportation Association (APTA).
