Diverse Community Leaders Wrap Up the Year

The Diverse Community Leaders group meets quarterly to discuss OCTA’s programs and services and share their ideas and concerns. Members include business, social and faith leaders from Orange County’s diverse communities.

During the group’s December meeting, OCTA CEO Darrell Johnson provided an update on the new OC Bus App and discounted bus passes. He also shared information about OCTA’s interest rate reset on the federal loan for the I-405 Improvement Project, which will help save Orange County taxpayers $158 million.

OCTA presented progress on the new trust-building campaign for Vietnamese Americans and limited-English speakers in the Latinx community and introduced many of the program’s Spanish- and Vietnamese-language ambassadors or influencers, including Dr. Quynh Kiều, radio host Catherine Garces, Northgate Market executive Alicia Valadez-González, singer Loan Châu and others.

In addition, diverse leaders received updates on the I-405 Improvement Project, the Long Range Transportation Plan and active transportation.

OCTA is dedicated to engaging and interacting with Orange County’s diverse communities by increasing awareness of the agency and its transportation services and projects. For more information about OCTA’s Diversity Outreach and Business Opportunities Program, click here.
