A recent article in Momentum Magazine highlighted a study that sheds light on the positive impacts of commuting by bike.
“Our finding that this economical and sustainable method of travelling to work also enhances mental health suggests that a policy of investing in cycle paths and encouraging active commuting is likely to have wide-ranging benefits,” said Professor Chris Dibben of the School of GeoSciences, one of the authors of the study. “Not only could this improve peoples’ mental health, it could also help reduce carbon emissions, road congestion and air pollution.”
For those who live in Orange County, the mental health benefit is just one more good reason to enjoy the area’s more than 1,000 miles of bikeways, many of which connect to bus stops or Metrolink stations to extend commutes by public transit. Find out more about bicycling in Orange County here.
